Pediatric Surgery with elements of Cardiothoracic Surgery Fourth Year Curriculum for English Division

All lectures are held at the premises and by the staff of the  Department of Cardiac and General Pediatric Surgery.

Course length: 5 days (Mon-Fri. 8.30a.m. – 2.00 p.m.)    Seminars: 15 hrs.     Exercises: 15 hrs.    Final examination on Friday (test)

Aim of the 30 hrs. course:

  • Cardiac Surgery: physiology of fetal circulation, circulatory changes of birth, pathophysiology ofselected congenital heart defects.
  • Pediatric Surgery is focused on neonatal problems i.e. annorectal malformations, NEC syndrome, diaphragmatic hernias, intestinal obstructions as well as thoracic surgery [pulmonary defects of pulmonary tissue and airways (trachea and bronchi malformations)]. The program provides the general knowledge on pediatric urology, management of burn injury in children, and acute abdominal diseases.
